Our Initiatives
The UW Affordable Care Act Access, Education and Advocacy campaign aims to connect UW students with opportunities to learn about the Affordable Care Act and serve as Community Advocates. Our campaign provides three main avenues by which our members can gain insight into the Affordable Care Act and translate that knowledge into action:
Student EducationWe offer bi-monthly dynamic educational seminars and workshops on key aspects of the Affordable Care Act. These workshops are open to any UW student, and are designed to be interdisciplinary and useful. Past topics have included an introduction to the ACA, tax credits, and impact on minority populations.
|
Community OutreachWe partner with organizations in the King County region to host and volunteer at healthcare and public health events. These provide a platform from which our members can translate knowledge into advocacy and action. To learn about events we have held in the past, click "See Recent Events."

Volunteer OpportunitiesWithinReach, a local non-profit, trains ACAvenger volunteers to screen for and explain a variety of health and nutrition resources. ACAvenger volunteers then serve as outreach assistants at sites across King County. In the next year, students will also be able to volunteer at UWSOM affiliated free clinics.
