Penny Lara, Project Manager and In-Person Assister with Public Health Seattle King County hosted ACAvenger community outreach volunteers to implement their December ‘Coverage is Here King County’ ACA event at the Seattle Central Library. Nine eager ACAvenger community outreach volunteers played a key role in screening and educating attendees on their eligibility for ACA programs. Volunteers were also able to provide warm handoffs to licensed In-Person Assisters (IPAs) who helped eligible clients complete health insurance applications, and sit in on a information session that guided clients through navigating the Washington HealthPlan Finder website page by page.
The Coverage is Here King County event helped attendees of the Kick Off event translate their knowledge to action and painted a picture of the landscape for current ACA outreach.

- “It was interesting to learn about the various backgrounds people came from and the specific issues they faced with regards to access to healthcare.”
- “It was valuable to hear individual stories about accessing the website and health care in general.”
